Steven Jackson is 22 years old and a senior at Montclair State University, studying political science and history with the hopes of becoming a lawyer one day.
Jackson was just four years old when he first put on ice skates, beginning to play hockey only a year later. He has played the sport throughout his entire life, from peewees to his high school team, then playing in a junior’s league until now, where he plays men’s league.
Jackson left junior’s hockey to play men’s league because the schedule was much lighter so that it didn’t interfere with school. He says they usually play only one game a week with the start times much later in the night.
Steven Jackson has preferably played defense because he enjoys the responsibility of preventing the other team from scoring. If he could play any other position, Jackson believes he would make a successful goalie because of his athletic ability and fearless attitude.
Jackson likes to wear jersey number 36 in recognition of Matthew Barnaby, a former professional hockey player, who Jackson tries to imitate his game after. If his body will allow it, Jackson wants to play hockey for the rest of his life.
